Summer is here, and believe it or not, it’s the best time to maintain your furnace!

The last thing that you want to use over the summer is your furnace, but that doesn’t mean that you should put your furnace out of your mind. The summer is actually a great time to get your furnace maintained, and there are several things you can do to make sure that, come fall, your furnace is ready to go. The following is a list from our Denver furnace service experts of a few things you can do to maintain your furnace this summer:

#1. Replace the Filter

When was the last time you replaced the filter in your furnace? As a general rule, you should replace the filter in your furnace every six months. If the filter gets too clogged and dirty, it will make it a lot more difficult for your furnace to work properly, which will almost certainly lead to higher energy bills.

#2. Clean Your Furnace

Your furnace needs to be cleaned at the changing of the seasons. This will get rid of any dust or debris that can hinder your furnace and its components from working properly. If you don’t clean your furnace on a regular basis, you could do permanent damage. Contact our furnace service professionals to ensure that your furnace gets cleaned safely and properly.

#3. Turn off the pilot light.

Does your furnace have a pilot light? If so, turn it off for summer! You don’t need to have the pilot light on for any reason, and turning it off may help you save a couple of dollars on your gas bill.
