Believe it or not, you don’t have to break the bank to stay cool!
In order to fight the heat, you may find yourself cranking up your air conditioner, and while this is certainly an effective way to stay cool, it can leave you with a much larger energy bill than you’re used to. The good news is that Premier Heating and Air is here to help. Check out our latest blog to learn about a few things you can do to save money while staying cool. Here are a few more things you can do:
#7. Invest in solar screens.
Solar screens are an affordable upgrade that can keep your home much cooler. Solar screens are essentially window screens that block solar energy; up to 70 percent of solar energy in fact!
#8. Keep your curtains closed.
The sun brings a whole lot of heat and light into your home that can undermine your air conditioner’s efforts. Keep your blinds and curtains closed to prevent excess heat from getting into your home.
#9. Cook outside.
Using the stove or turning on the oven is a great way to make your home a whole lot warmer. That’s why, in the summer, you’re much better off making dinner on the grill. Cold meals, like salads and sandwiches, are also ideal in the summer.
#10. Line dry your laundry.
Not only does your dryer use a whole lot of energy on its own, it also generates quite a bit of heat. Use the sun to dry your clothes by line drying them! Line drying is free, and it won’t heat up your home!
The first step to saving money while staying cool is to keep your air conditioner maintained. If your air conditioner is due for maintenance, schedule your appointment now!
